Regulation US issue corrugated or "bullseye" canteen marked on the spout "C.H. & Co." which is Code, Hopper and Company, a large supplier of canteens to the government on several contracts. This one is brown wool covered with a soldier's initials, "B.D." stenciled in black on one side. The cover is very good, with some stains but no holes. The strap shows use and slight fraying, but is all there and has one break that has been knotted. Otherwise solid. The stopper and cord are there, but the cord looks a bit too new and is probably a replacement by a collector.
