1881 Pattern Cavalry Holster
click for an even bigger image

Regulation 1881 pattern cavalry holster in its original configuration for a 7 1/2 inch barrel revolver. Correct two-hole configuration for use with the Colt 1873 or Smith and Wesson Schofield revolvers. No maker marks left, but the inspector initials on the end of the cover latch tab are visible. Soldier's initials "FP" lightly carved in small letter at top reverse of belt loop. A very good, solid holster with the toe plug in place. The flap has finish loss from flexing. The body is mostly smooth with a very legible US/oval embossed stamp.
A good example of a regulation US cavalry holster. The belt loop is not the very large, later fifth type. Looks like the third or fourth type to me.
Shipping $12.95. NY residents add sales tax.
