Mexican War and Pre-Civil War US Army Daguerreotypes

Wonderful, top notch 134 page study of American military daguerreotypes, "Silver Shadows Before the Storm," by William Shultz as part of the 2002-2003 Daguerreian Annual. Covers pages 134 to 268, with lots of very well reproduced images and commentary. Lots of useful information on uniform detail and insignia. Emphasis on the Mexican War, but much on the pre-war army as well. Many of these men went on to serve in the Civil War.
The whole volume is 373 pages and has other articles on daguerreotypes as well, but the Schultz article is the main focus. There is also a good article on the daguerreotypes of John Brown (pages 31-50) and one on southern daguerreotypes in the Atlanta History Center, pages 51-82.
This is a lightly used copy, clean and tight, but with a crease on the upper left back cover and a bump to the lower left back cover.
