DESCRIPTION

Nice, clear 1890s tintype, 2 5/8 by 3 1/2 inches, showing two women interacting for and with the camera. The woman at left sits and pretends to write in what would seem to be a book or journal. Her friend is posed next to her, about to look over her shoulder and see what private thoughts she has written and gestures to the camera and observer to come closer or be quiet so that she can get a look. Alternatively, she has already read her friends entry and gestures to the camera as an act of confidentiality, that she and the camera have spied on her friend.
Anyway... this the kind of photo that was created with a narrative in mind and demands that the viewer supply one. Minor rub upper right above the standing woman's head. Otherwise nice.
