Probably the canton of a larger US flag using this in place of the stars. This outfit was a Mississippi militia outfit started in the late 1850s, some of whose officers had served in the Mexican War under Jefferson Davis. They were an honor guard for part of his journey to his inauguration and later saw field service in the state and the CS service. A wonderful flag.
