DESCRIPTION

Nice condition non-dug regulation US oval belt plate. Pattern of 1839. The standard US infantry enlisted man's belt buckle.
Stamped brass with "arrow-back" hooks and beveled belt hook behind the "U" of the "US" on the face of the plate. Medium patina with some age spots around the edge.
Measures 2 3/16 by 3 7/16, or 55mm by 87mm for those liking to appear scientific. These plates are thought to have been made by the same Pennsylvania maker who did the Philadelphia Home Guard "PHG" plates, which are also fairly large and egg shaped, measuring 58 by 87mm by O'Donnell and Campbell's measurements (see plate number 589 in American Military Belt Plates.)
Shipping $7.95 priority mail insured. NY addresses add sales tax.
